
Intro to Dragon Silk Poi
A beginner-friendly dragon silk poi workshop where you’ll learn foundational spins, flow techniques, and safety basics before free-flowing together in community.
Curious about dragon silk poi? This beginner-friendly workshop invites you into the colorful world of flow arts through guided instruction, movement exploration, and community practice.
Participants (ages 5+ and all levels welcome) will begin with grounding and safety fundamentals, including flow space awareness and proper warm-up techniques to support joint health and injury prevention. From there, you’ll be introduced to essential foundation skills across the wheel, wall, and horizontal planes. Learning forward and backward spins, stalls, figure 8 variations, and smooth transitions.
You’ll explore how movement changes the visual effect, practice turning while spinning, and experiment with different levels and directions. The session builds progressively, allowing you to gain confidence before flowing into a final free-form “Flight of the Dragon” group experience where everyone spins together in a synchronized celebration of movement.
This 60-minute workshop is designed to be accessible, supportive, and fun whether you’re brand new to poi or refining your basics. Expect movement, coordination practice, creative expression, and a joyful group vibe.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and come ready to move.
